Three beautiful spaces will become available in our building on February 1, 2023. So we are looking for enthusiastic new members, who are not only looking for a studio space, but also would like to be part of the association Kostgewonnen. We manage the building ourselves. This results in low rent and a lot of participation in the decision making, but also requires self-efficacy by the members. Working in Kostgewonnen means being involved in the association, doing chores, holding meetings, being social and taking joint responsibility for managing and preserving the property for the future. It is a plus if the new tenant has administrative or organizational experience.
Two spaces on the ground floor will become available for socially engaged initiatives. On the first floor, a studio space will become available for an emerging artist or designer, with preference given to candidates who are underrepresented in our community. Read more about the specific profile and facilities of the different spaces below.

About us
Since 1993, the former school building has been used as living- and working-space under the name Kostgewonnen. In 2005 the property was purchased by Vereniging Kostgangers, of which all tenants are members. The building was thoroughly renovated over 3 years, largely by the members themselves, to make room for a variety of cultural functions. For example, the building contains 12 studio spaces for artists, designers, filmmakers, among others, 7 (atelier-) apartments and 1 theater. The building is managed by its members. There is a board and there are work-groups for the maintenance of building and garden and for internal and public activities.
1. Atelier 1st floor
This is a work space of 44 square meters with loft and small back room. It is located at the front of the building overlooking the Kostverlorenvaart. We share a spacious garden on the east and a roof terrace on the west. The room costs € 375 per month, including internet and membership, excluding gas/water/electricity. A deposit of 3 months' basic rent is required.
For this space we are looking for a young artist or designer (or duo) in the beginning of their career, who will strengthen and enrich the cultural diversity in our building. In a society where opportunities are still uneven, we would like to be a community that better reflects our society.
2. Space ground floor garden side
This is a space of 47 square meters on the first floor. We share a spacious garden on the east and a roof terrace on the west. The space costs about € 400 per month, including internet and membership, excluding gas/water/electricity. A deposit of 3 months' bare rent is required.
For this space, we are looking for a social organization or world improver, who regularly opens the doors for activities, workshops, education or social services. We are looking for people who are outward-looking and connect with the city and its residents. We give preference to people from underrepresented groups.
3. Space ground floor frontside - space to be remodeled.
This is a space of over 35 square meters that will be built in January by the association (part of a former daycare). It will be casco-ready. We share a spacious garden on the east and a roof terrace on the west. The room costs about € 320 per month, excluding gas/water/electricity. A deposit of 3 months' basic rent is required.
